P-SAFE Study

Are you currently receiving treatment for breast, lung, prostate, or colorectal cancer?
We are investigating the financial impact for patients and their families related to treatment for breast, colorectal, lung or prostate cancer.

We would like to understand how your cancer has affected your personal finances.

The Patient Self-Administered Financial Effects (P-SAFE) study is investigating the financial impact of a cancer diagnosis for patients and their families. This includes not just the medical expenses, but other household related expenses, the impact on ability to work for patients and their caregivers, and whether private or employer insurance is providing any additional support. With a national focus we hope to learn how provinces differ, and identify some best practices to inform governments on how to minimize some of these financial burdens for families.

• Your participation in this study includes completing a 20 minute survey and if able up to two follow up surveys.
• Why should you participate in this study? We hope this research will influence government policy to reduce the financial burden for cancer patients and their families.
